General Manager’s Press Release: Head Coach Resignation Confirmed

PNG Hekari FC wishes to inform our supporters, partners, and the football community that Head Coach Marcos Gusmao has officially tendered his resignation.

Marcos has made this decision based solely on personal reasons, which he expressed clearly during our management meeting. He shared that this may be his last involvement in football, as he has chosen to dedicate more time to his wife and family. We respect his choice and fully support his desire to prioritize family life.

The Club Management and Board acknowledge and appreciate the significant contributions Marcos has made during his time with PNG Hekari FC. Notably, he developed a four-year technical plan that will serve as a foundation for nurturing and developing our youth players in the years ahead. His work has left a lasting impact, and we are grateful for his dedication and service to the club.

In light of his resignation, Assistant Coach Jerry Allan will assume responsibility for the team for the remainder of the season. Jerry holds an OFC Senior B Licence and is currently in the process of applying for his A Licence. He will continue to lead the squad until such time as the club appoints a new Head Coach.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Marcos for his time and commitment to PNG Hekari FC and PNG Football in the past and wish him the very best in whatever he chooses to pursue in life.
